John Woo is the debut single by My Fat Pony, a look into the world of the mariachi inspired garage band.

The band decamped to record with Nile Marr and Dale Charlton at Almost Studios in Manchester. Carving the world of MFP on to record allowed the band to add greater breadth to their songs: allowing studio embellishments to intensify, not detract from, the energy they capture live. Todd Tobias, former producer and collaborator of Guided By Voices, one of My Fat Pony’s greatest influences, stepped in to provide mastering duties – completing that final piece of the puzzle in giving the band’s recordings the nostalgic mid-fi quality they suit.

Making reference to a cult Hong-Kong film director, My Fat Pony bring a charm and cinematic sensibility in their debut release that is undeniably infectious.
